This series of four posters for mental health awareness are designed using some of my past collage work with type laid on top. I included QR codes to allow the viewer to navigate to a resourceful page specific to the targeted audience. The class seemed to respond quite well to the imagery and concept, so I felt extremely accomplished. While I have some adjustments to make before feeling like they

are ready to print, I already know this will be one of my favorite projects. Some key points I gathered from feedback are that hierarchy of information could improve and that I should experiment more with the type within the imagery. The concept of the posters is to draw attention to a more serious topic with imagery that’s eye catching, but not necessarily representative. I’m excited about furthering this project for my portfolio because it combines an art form I really love—collage—with designing for a purpose. The collaging is easy but the designing with a purpose can be a little more challenging, so I cherish the times when inspiration leads to an effective project. The four posters all together tesselate to create one seamless poster that addresses all four topics at once. A quadrant style grid made of color blocks resembles the four quadrants in mathematical graphs and the collision of math with design is always beautiful. A billboard format is also explored to be accessible to people with phones but possibly not wi-fi access.
